Samsung chief alludes to 'mirrorless' Galaxy Camera sequel coming June 20th
We had a feeling the little Galaxy S4 Zoom wouldn't be the final word in Samsung's Android-powered camera lineup for 2013, and now it seems that a truer successor to the high-spec Galaxy Camera is indeed on its way. As quoted by the Korea Times, JK Shin has confirmed that a "mirrorless camera that runs on Google's Android software" will launch at the company's forthcoming event in London on June 20th, which will likely also show off other Galaxy-branded products. Assuming no mistranslations have gotten in the way, the reference to a "mirrorless" camera implies the existence of an interchangeable lens system, suggesting that the new Galaxy Camera might be more akin to Samsung's NX range of cameras than to its cheaper point-and-shoots. If that's the case, then this could be a significant upgrade in terms of sensor size and image quality, but at this point there's still very little we can say for sure.

Samsung to Unveil New “Mirrorless” Galaxy Camera 2 on June 20? (Updated)
Update: The first pictures of the device have leaked. It’s called the Galaxy NX, and looks be to everything we imagined.
According to a report out of the Korea Times, Samsung boss JK Shin told reporters that they are going to release a “sequel to the Galaxy Camera” on June 20 at their London Premiere event. This sequel will be the company’s “latest mirrorless camera that runs on Google’s Android software.” That’s a pretty interesting idea, right there.
The previous Galaxy Camera was nothing more than an average point-and-shoot that happened to run a full-blown version of Android. The idea was something we were highly interested in, the camera just couldn’t deliver like we had hoped. But if we’re talking mirrorless for the next iteration, are we also talking interchangeable lenses? Are we talking a legitimate camera on the same level as Samsung’s current NX line? A lot of questions that this quote doesn’t necessarily answer.
We’re also dealing with a translation here, so until we see the product, we aren’t sure that we should all get hopes too high here. But, should Samsung launch a new NX camera, powered by Android, are you game?
Here are the First Pictures of Samsung’s Galaxy NX
Shortly after we wrote up the Samsung CEO JK Shin’s comments on their intention to introduce a “mirrorless” camera, we now have our official answer as to what they are going for. The Samsung Galaxy NX looks to be a beast of a device, sporting a 4.3″ high-res display along its backside, complete support for interchangeable lenses, the full TouchWiz-themed Android OS onboard, 20.3MP sensor and probably a very long list of other photography hotness that I am unfamiliar with.
The device is much bigger than we had initially expected, looking more like a Canon Rebel than that of a smaller Samsung NX300 model. Whether this is a turn on or turn off is yet to be decided.
We are expecting to this device fully unveiled at Samsung’s London Premier event on June 20.

Rumor Analysis: Is This The Next Galaxy Camera, The Galaxy NX? Probably, But I Kind Of Hope Not

Rumor Analysis: Is This The Next Galaxy Camera, The Galaxy NX? Probably, But I Kind Of Hope Not
Samsung has a thing with cameras lately, it seems, and putting Android on them. Or attaching a phone to them. Eventually, I expect we will see the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Camera, the world's first stylus tablet with a full-frame DSLR attached to the back. Until then, though, we may have to settle for the Galaxy NX - the spiritual successor to Samsung's not-exactly-lauded Galaxy Camera. Behold its [alleged] massiveness.
These photos were leaked on Vietnamese size Tienthe.vn, and they aren't without their faults. The screenshots appear to have been added a bit after-the-fact, and either may be the work of the images' publisher, or an unfinished draft of Samsung's press renders.
