Kaleidoscape ships 100-disc Blu-ray movie server

Kaleidescape has made good on its promise and is now shipping the industry's first-ever Blu-ray disc home server. It will store and playback the content of the discs it contains, and uses Kaleidoscape's Movie Guide library of more than 145,000 movie titles to bring high-resolution cover art and a synopsis of the movie. The Kaleidescape System makes it easier to access users' libraries.

The system also stores bookmarks and triggers that let the movie be restarted at the same spot it was left off at. Lighting, curtains and screen masking can also be adjusted during playback. The Kaleidescape Modular Disc Vault (pictured) needs to be connected to the company's M-Class player.

The Modular Disc Vault is priced at about $1,500 in either the US or Canada. The M300 and M500 players were shipping since May, priced at $2,500 and $4,000 respectively.
