3D Lurches Forward

The Consumer Electronics Association reports 23 percent of digital imaging enthusiasts are likely to purchase a 3D digital camera within the next year.
The firm’s study, 3D Digital Imaging: Consumer Perceptions of this Emerging Technology, examined awareness, perceptions, purchase intent and product uses.
Other findings include:
  • 61 percent of those surveyed cited an interest in 3D technology;
  • 55 percent desire additional photographic options;
  • 23 percent want to be on the cutting-edge of technology;
  • 22 percent believe 3D will help them be more creative.
The enthusiasts surveyed say they would use a 3D camera for pictures of natural scenery (62 percent), buildings or landmarks (58 percent) and historic places (53 percent).
Also, one in ten indicate they are likely to purchase a 3D camcorder within the next year.
